Desire
Ask yourself the following question. Why do you want to improve your overall fitness? Think about this for a minute and be honest. Are you doing it because YOU want to change the way you look, feel and your overall health? Or are you interested in getting in better shape for all the wrong reasons such as to impress someone or because you were told to by a family member or friend? No one should make you feel obligated to go to the gym or workout at home. To have a fairly positive attitude about the gym, you must want to go there for yourself. It does not mean every time you go to the gym, you are excited and can't wait to get there. I find myself at times not wanting to go to the gym. It is a natural feeling many people have. The question is whether you let it stop you from actually going. If you are feeling ill or a family issue arises, by all means skip the gym for that day. Just don't let this reason turn into future excuses that do not exist for another day and then another. Eventually it turns into a "snowball effect" and will often lead to a person stopiing the gym altogether. This example leads me right into the second "D", dedication.
